Lead developer Tyler Olmstead released v120 on Tuesday evening, December 18th. Version 119 was released previously. Changes include:

  1. New configuration to use Optimized price only
  2. Changing technician on an estimate updates appointment
  3. Standard labor rate is fixed when estimate created
  4. Launch of new Knowledge Base

#1 - New configuration to use Optimized price only

Shop-Ware's GP Optimizer provides a baseline of profitability for parts with the Optimizer ON. By default, parts with a list price higher than the Optimized price use the list price, to maximize profitability above the Optimizer baseline.

This release adds a new configuration to the GP Optimizer, in response to popular request. Now you have the option to go "all in" and use Optimized prices only, even when a part's list price is higher. This setting alleviates concerns over inflated vendor list prices, especially when using eCommerce integrations.

When the Optimizer is enabled and active, you now will see a new setting on the Optimizer page:

When the checkbox is unchecked (the default) parts with the Optimizer ON will continue to sell at whatever price is higher: list price or Optimized price.

When the checkbox is checked, all parts with the Optimizer ON will disregard the list price and always sell at the Optimized price. With this setting, staff no longer need to check if a part coming back from eCommerce has an inflated price on individual ROs and make adjustments. You can sell with confidence that you are meeting your GP target without concern about price gouging.

With this new setting, parts with the Optimizer OFF will continue to sell at their list prices or at group prices (when included in a group). If you have a part you wish to sell above the Optimized price on a regular basis, you may opt it out of the Optimizer and set the list price accordingly.

If you prefer to use the prices from eComm vendors (or whatever your pricing may be) and keep the Optimizer in place as a baseline, you can leave this setting off. No changes to settings will be made with the addition of this new feature; you must opt in (check the box) to enable it.

#2 - Changing technician on an estimate updates appointment

We've updated our Scheduler over the past releases; this release adds a small improvement when you change the technician directly on an estimate.

When you drag an appointment from one technician column to another, the assigned technician on the associated estimate will update to the new technician (assuming another appointment for the same estimate does not exist). Prior to this release, however, if you changed the technician on the RO, the appointment would not automatically move to the new technicians column, on the scheduler. This improvement closes that final gap.

Stay tuned for continued enhancements to the Scheduler going forward!

#3 - Standard labor rate is fixed when estimate created

This release updates how standard labor rates are managed on existing estimates and work orders. Previously when you changed your standard labor rate, any existing estimates and work orders would update to the new labor rate, assuming the new labor rate was desired. This was unexpected and potentially problematic, especially on work orders where pricing had already been communicated to the customer.

Now when you change your standard labor rate, any existing estimates and work orders will stick to the original labor rate assigned. If you wish to update to the new labor rate, you can open the RO View Financials modal and select a new rate for the entire RO (or in the Service View Financials modal, for an individual service), same as always.

#4 - Launch of new Knowledge Base

Shop-Ware is proud to announce the launch of a new Knowledge Base! This portal hosts valuable information for training as well as reference material and FAQs. Check it out at:

http://support.shop-ware.com/

Support linked directly through your user menu will continue to map to our existing portal (for now), including the means to submit support requests and questions. Once we add those submission features to the new Knowledge Base we will replace the link in the user menu so you can find everything in one place.

This concludes Release Notes for Version 119-120.  Enjoy!
